CELPIP exam fee in India
CELPIP General is listed at ₹15,500per sitting on CELPIP's India booking page. Some sites still quote ₹14,500–₹18,290. Those are older figures or include different tax treatment. CELPIP General LS, which is only for Canadian citizenship, is ₹9,500. The total at checkout on celpip.ca, including any GST, is the figure that counts. CELPIP has expanded quickly in India. celpip.ca now lists about 45 centres in 37 cities, including:

How to book CELPIP in India
- Create an account on celpip.ca. Your name must match your passport exactly.
- Choose CELPIP General for PR or Australia, or General LS only for citizenship.
- Select India, then your city, centre and date.
- Pay online and keep the confirmation email.
- Bring your passport on test day and arrive about 30 minutes early.

CELPIP vs IELTS for Indian candidates
- No Listening trap. In IELTS, CLB 9 needs 8.0 in Listening, and a 7.5 only gives CLB 8. In CELPIP a 9 is simply CLB 9. See the CELPIP to IELTS converter.
- Recorded speaking. You speak into a headset, not to an examiner, which many candidates find less stressful.
- Everyday English. Emails, survey answers and daily-life conversations, not academic essays.
- Trade-off: IELTS still has more centres and dates in smaller towns, and the CELPIP listening audio uses Canadian accents.

Canada or Australia PR from India with CELPIP
Many Indian applicants now keep both options open. A single CELPIP General result taken at an Indian centre works for Canadian Express Entry and for Australian skilled visas. The targets differ, though: Australia's Proficient English (+10 points) needs Writing 10, higher than a flat CELPIP 9. See CELPIP for Canada and Australia and CELPIP scores for Australian PR.

Is CELPIP accepted for Canada PR from India?
Yes. CELPIP General is accepted by IRCC for Express Entry, provincial nominee programs and most other PR pathways. A score from an Indian centre counts exactly the same as one from Canada.
Can I use CELPIP from India for Australian PR?
Yes. Since 7 August 2025, Australia's Department of Home Affairs accepts CELPIP General taken in person at any centre, including in India, for skilled visas such as the 189, 190 and 491. The at-home CELPIP Online is not accepted for Australia.
Is CELPIP easier than IELTS for Indian candidates?
For many, yes. CELPIP maps one to one with CLB, so there is no IELTS Listening trap where 7.5 only gives CLB 8. Speaking is recorded rather than a face-to-face interview, and the topics are everyday situations. IELTS has more centres and dates in India.
Is CELPIP General LS enough for Canada PR?
No. General LS only tests Listening and Speaking, and it is for Canadian citizenship. For PR, and for Australia, book the full CELPIP General.
