CELPIP Writing Task 2 asks you to respond to a survey question. You usually choose between two options and explain your opinion with reasons and examples. A strong survey response clearly states your choice, gives two strong reasons, and supports each reason with specific details.
I strongly prefer building a new public library because it would benefit a wider range of residents and support long-term learning in the community. First, a library is useful for people of all ages. Students can use it for studying, job seekers can access computers and career resources, and seniors can attend reading groups or community workshops. This makes it more inclusive than a sports centre, which may mainly attract people who are already interested in fitness. Second, a modern library can offer much more than books. It can provide free internet, language classes, children’s programs, meeting rooms, and quiet study areas. These services would help residents develop skills and connect with others. Although a sports centre would also be valuable, I believe a public library would have a greater educational and social impact. For these reasons, I support building a new library.
