1. CelpipUni: best full-simulation practice with AI evaluation

The primary limitation of traditional free materials is that while Listening and Reading can be self-graded with answer keys, Speaking and Writing require objective evaluation. Without feedback on whether your speaking hits CLB 9 fluency or your writing has sufficient grammatical range, you could be practicing the wrong habits.

CelpipUni solves this by delivering realistic, timed mock exams coupled with an AI feedback engine. It listens to your voice recordings, checks your vocabulary variety and coherence, flags repetitive transitions, and estimates your CLB score immediately.

Full-screen timer environment mirroring test center Prometric computers.
Built-in spellchecker and word counter matching the actual exam conditions.
Canadian English accent audio recordings for realistic listening practice.

2. Official Paragon / Prometric free sample tests

Every candidate must take the two free sample tests provided directly by Prometric on celpip.ca. Once you create a free profile, you gain access to Sample Test 1 and Sample Test 2.

Strengths: It uses the exact fonts, countdown timer styles, and button locations that appear on test day.

Drawbacks: The sample tests do not save your speaking audio or provide essay scoring. You only get raw answer keys for the multiple-choice sections.

3. Canadian public libraries (free digital access)

If you currently live in Canada as a temporary resident, student, or worker, your local municipal library is a goldmine. For example:

Toronto Public Library (TPL): Offers digital access to premium language learning databases and downloadable CELPIP study guides.
Vancouver Public Library (VPL): Provides online subscriptions to CELPIP test prep modules.
Calgary & Edmonton Public Libraries: Regular in-person English conversation circles tailored for CLB 7–9 immigrants.

All you need is proof of address in your city to obtain a free library card and unlock these commercial databases.

4. YouTube strategy channels

YouTube is fantastic for passive visual learning. Channels like Mad English TV and official Prometric tutorial videos provide invaluable demonstrations of how high-band candidates respond to Speaking Task 1 (Giving Advice) or Speaking Task 5 (Comparing and Persuading).

Tip: Use YouTube to learn the structures and connectors, then practice speaking into CelpipUni's recorder to test if you can deliver the response within the strict 60-second or 90-second countdown.
