CELPIP test centres in Australia
CELPIP General can be taken in person in five Australian cities. This guide lists every location, explains how to book, and covers what to do if you live in a state without a centre.

CELPIP Sydney (NSW)
Sydney has the most CELPIP sessions in Australia, with a centre on the lower North Shore (St Leonards) and one in the CBD. It is the closest option for anyone in NSW and the ACT.
CELPIP Melbourne (Victoria)
Melbourne's centre is in the CBD on Lonsdale Street. It is also the nearest centre for most Tasmanian candidates.
CELPIP Brisbane (Queensland)
Brisbane runs fewer sessions than Sydney or Melbourne. Candidates from the Gold Coast, Sunshine Coast and regional Queensland usually travel here, so book early.
CELPIP Perth (Western Australia)
Perth has two listed venues, one in the CBD and one in Victoria Park. It is the only option in Western Australia.
CELPIP Adelaide (South Australia)
Adelaide's centre is in the CBD on King William Street. Sessions are less frequent than on the east coast, so check dates before you lodge an EOI with a deadline.

How to book CELPIP in Australia
- Create an account on celpip.ca. It is the only official booking site. Enter your name exactly as it appears on your passport.
- Choose CELPIP General. Not CELPIP General LS, and not CELPIP Online.
- Select Australia, then your city. The calendar shows available test dates and seats.
- Pay AUD 355 + GST by credit or debit card.
- Check your confirmation email for the exact venue address and arrival time.
Test dates and waiting times
Sydney and Melbourne have the most frequent sessions. Brisbane, Perth and Adelaide may run only a few a month. Expect to wait 2–4 weeks for a seat in the bigger cities, and longer elsewhere. Results usually arrive online within about 2–4 business days. Build that into your EOI or visa timeline.
What happens on test day
- Arrive about 30 minutes early with your passport.
- Your photo is taken, and your belongings go into a locker.
- You sit at your own computer with a headset.
- Listening, Reading, Writing and Speaking run back to back, about 3 hours in total.
- Speaking is recorded into the headset. There is no live examiner.

Booking from overseas
Because CELPIP General has been accepted since 7 August 2025, you can also sit it in Canada, India, the UAE, the Philippines or any other country with an in-person CELPIP centre, and use the result for your Australian visa. Indian candidates can see the CELPIP India guide.

Where can I take the CELPIP test in Australia?
At in-person CELPIP centres in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth, Adelaide. Sydney and Melbourne run the most sessions. Check celpip.ca for the current list, because venues and dates change.
Is there a CELPIP test centre in Tasmania, Darwin or Canberra?
Not at the time of writing. Candidates in Hobart usually fly to Melbourne, Canberra candidates drive to Sydney, and Darwin candidates travel to Adelaide, Perth or Brisbane.
Can I take CELPIP online in Australia?
You can book CELPIP Online, but the result is not accepted for Australian visas. Home Affairs only accepts tests taken in person at a secure test centre. CELPIP Online is only useful for Canadian purposes.
How do I book the CELPIP test in Australia?
Create an account on celpip.ca, choose CELPIP General, select Australia and your city, pick a date and pay AUD 355 + GST. Register with your name exactly as it appears on your passport.
How far in advance should I book CELPIP in Australia?
Three to four weeks is a safe window in Sydney and Melbourne. Brisbane, Perth and Adelaide have fewer sessions, so book 4–6 weeks ahead, or sooner if you have an EOI or visa deadline.
What do I bring to a CELPIP test centre?
Your valid passport, the same one you registered with. Personal items, phones and watches go into a locker. You get a computer and headset, and all four sections are completed in one sitting.
