Dear Residents,
The Community Emergency Preparedness Committee (CEPC) is excited to announce the upcoming annual neighbourhood-wide emergency preparedness drill! This year, our focus will be on a simulated power outage scenario combined with a severe weather warning, testing our collective response to a multi-faceted crisis. The drill is scheduled for Saturday, November 18th, from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM. Your participation is crucial for the success of this important event.
We are still in urgent need of volunteers to fill several key roles. Specifically, we require individuals to act as 'simulated victims' (requiring some acting and makeup for realistic injuries), 'check-in station coordinators' (to manage participant registration and information dissemination), and 'area monitors' (to observe and report on drill progress and safety). No prior experience is necessary for any of these roles; comprehensive training will be provided on Thursday, November 9th, at 7:00 PM in the Community Centre main hall. Please RSVP for volunteer training by November 5th.
For all participants, whether volunteering or simply observing, we strongly recommend bringing a basic emergency kit. This should include essentials like bottled water (at least 2 litres), non-perishable snacks, a flashlight with extra batteries, a first-aid kit, and any necessary personal medications. While we will have some supplies on hand for emergencies, the drill's purpose is to practice self-sufficiency. Also, remember to dress appropriately for outdoor activities, as parts of the drill will take place outside regardless of weather conditions.

Thank you for the update on the upcoming emergency drill. I'm writing to express my in participating. I understand that the drill is focusing on a scenario, which sounds incredibly valuable for our community.
I'm particularly interested in volunteering as an 'area monitor'. I have some experience with community observation and feel I could effectively in this role. I've noted the volunteer training session on November 9th and plan to by the November 5th deadline.
Regarding the recommended emergency kit, I already have most of the items, including a first-aid kit and flashlight. I just need to ensure I pack enough as specified. It's great that the drill emphasizes .
