The Enclosed Preposition
"In"
For Time (Broad/Long periods)
- Months, Years, Seasons, Centuries
"in July", "in 2024", "in the summer", "in the 21st century" - Parts of the day
"in the morning", "in the afternoon", "in the evening" (but "at night")
For Place (Enclosed/Large areas)
- Countries, Cities, Neighborhoods
"in Canada", "in Toronto", "in downtown" - Enclosed spaces
"in a room", "in a car", "in a box", "in the building"
The Surface Preposition
"On"
For Time (Specific Days)
- Days of the week
"on Monday", "on Fridays" - Specific Dates and Holidays
"on July 4th", "on New Year's Day", "on my birthday"
For Place (Surfaces/Lines)
- Physical surfaces
"on the table", "on the wall", "on the floor", "on the page" - Streets, Avenues, Rivers
