Before you launch into the intense 53-minute Final Mock Test, review this ultimate cognitive checklist. If you can confidently execute these 6 strategies, you are ready for the real exam.
1. The 4-Paragraph Architectures
- Task 1: Do you know the breakdown? (Purpose, Details, Action, Sign-off).
- Task 2: Do you know the blueprint? (Intro/Choice, Reason 1, Reason 2, Conclusion).
- Are you leaving a blank line of white space between every single paragraph?
2. Tone and Purpose (Task 1)
- Can you identify if the recipient requires a Formal or Informal tone?
- Do you state your purpose in the very first sentence without giving backstory?
- Are your requests "softened" with Modal Verbs (e.g., I would appreciate it if...)?
3. The PEE Method (Task 2)
- Do you use the Vocabulary Filter to pick the easiest side to defend?
- Are your body paragraphs structured with a Point, Evidence, and an Example?
- Do you include a "Concession + Pivot" to acknowledge the counter-argument?
4. Grammar Flexing
- Can you intentionally write a Passive Voice sentence?
- Can you intentionally write a Conditional (If/Then) sentence?
- Do your sentences vary in length (The Short-Long-Short Sandwich)?
5. Advanced Vocabulary
- Have you banished "And, But, So" from the start of your sentences?
- Do you use the Adverb-Adjective upgrade (e.g., highly problematic) instead of "very"?
- Do you paraphrase the prompt instead of copying it?
6. Time Management
- Do you spend the first 3 minutes brainstorming on scratch paper?
- Do you save the final 5 minutes exclusively for the 4-Step Proofread?
⏱️ Exam Day Survival Tips
Your strategy is perfect, but the testing center environment can be distracting. Remember these golden rules:

1. Ignore the Typists: You will be in a room with other people. During the writing section, it will sound like a machine gun of keyboards. Do not panic if they type faster than you. They are probably writing 300 words of terrible English. Stick to your 175-word target.2. The Word Count is Law: Do not submit an essay with 145 words. Do not submit an essay with 205 words. The penalty is harsh and automatic.
3. Breathe During the Transition: After Task 1 finishes, you have a few seconds before Task 2 begins. Take a deep breath. Shift your brain from "Storytelling Mode" (Task 1) into "Debate Mode" (Task 2).
