You have reached the final paragraph of your 200-word essay. You have stated your choice, provided two distinct reasons with evidence, and perhaps even crushed a counter-argument.
Now, you must execute the Conclusion. This is the last thing the human grader will read before assigning your score. A weak, repetitive conclusion can drop a CLB 9 down to a CLB 8. A powerful conclusion leaves a lasting impression of absolute fluency.
⏱️ The Psychology of the "Final Impression"
Test-takers are usually exhausted by the time they reach the conclusion. They just want to finish the test.

The "Copy-Paste" Trap: Because they are tired, test-takers often just re-type their introduction.
Intro: "I choose the park because it is good for health and the economy."
Conclusion: "In conclusion, I choose the park because it is good for health and the economy."
This is a fatal error. The grader will penalize your Vocabulary score for extreme repetition. You must restate your thesis using entirely new words.
🎭 The "Paraphrase + Future" Formula
A CLB 9+ conclusion is exactly two sentences long (roughly 20-30 words). It follows a strict, two-step formula.
Sentence 1: The Paraphrase
Restate your choice and summarize your two main points, but use synonyms.
- Original thought: The park helps health and business.
- Paraphrase: "Ultimately, prioritizing green space will yield the highest return on investment for both public wellness and local commerce."
Sentence 2: The Future Outlook
End the essay by looking toward the future. Tell the reader what the positive outcome will be if they listen to you.
- Future Outlook: "Implementing this proposal will ensure the neighborhood remains vibrant and sustainable for generations to come."
🎯 Question Strategy: The "Sign-off"
Unlike Task 1 (the email), Task 2 is a survey response. You do not need a formal letter sign-off like "Sincerely, John Doe."
However, adding a polite, single-sentence closing thought shows mastery of Canadian workplace etiquette.
- Option 1: "Thank you for allowing the staff to provide input on this important decision."
- Option 2: "I appreciate management taking my perspective into consideration."
You can simply attach this sentence to the end of your Conclusion paragraph.
📚 Essential Concluding Vocabulary
Start your final paragraph with a strong, definitive transition word. Do not use "To sum up" (it is too informal).

❌ Top 3 Conclusion Mistakes
- Introducing New Information: The conclusion is a summary. Do not suddenly introduce a brand new reason (e.g., "In conclusion, we should build the park. Also, parking lots are ugly."). If you didn't talk about it in the body paragraphs, do not put it in the conclusion!
- The 50-Word Conclusion: The conclusion should be the shortest paragraph in your essay. If it is longer than your body paragraphs, your essay is structurally unbalanced. Keep it to 2 or 3 sentences maximum.
- The "Hope" Ending: Ending the essay by saying, "I hope you pick my idea." This sounds weak and pleading. Use confident verbs: "This proposal will ensure success."
